All F-1 and J-1 students are required to report and maintain local U.S. address with the Department of Homeland Security within 10 days of arrival for new students and within 10 days of any address change. This address must be your local residential address complete with room number (if you are living within a residence hall) or apartment number. Campus departmental addresses, P.O. Boxes, and foreign address are not acceptable addresses for immigration purposes. To fulfill your address notification requirement and report or update your local U.S. address use the links below:

Current UC Berkeley students:  reporting or updating your address is done through Bear Facts. Your local address is the address that the Berkeley International Office office will forward electronically to the Department of Homeland Security through SEVIS.

UC Berkeley students on F-1 OPT All students are required to report to the Berkeley International Office within 10 days any changes to the following information:

  • Name
  • Residential address
  • Phone and email address
  • Employer name
  • Employer address
  • Employment status

A web page has been developed for you to do so at your convenience.  It is located at http://ssu.berkeley.edu/.  You will need your Student ID number and your SEVIS number to log in.  Instructions are given on the web page.  The information you enter on this web page will be stored at Berkeley International Office and is used only for reporting to SEVIS, as mandated by federal regulations.

Students who fail to report this information as required will be in violation of their F-1 status and may endanger their opportunities for future benefits in the United States.
