Update your Address and Employment
information to Berkeley International Office at:

The following information must be reported to Berkeley International Office during the post-completion OPT period of authorization:
- Your Name
- Your Residential address
- Your Phone and email address
- Employer name
- Employer address
- Start Date of Employment
- More than 10 days of unemployment (During the initial 12-month OPT, students may not accrue a cumulative total of more than 90 days of unemployment. Periods of up to 10 days between the end of one job and the beginning of the next job will not be included in the calculation for the time spent unemployed.)
- Date of exiting the U.S (You need to provide date of exit if you decide to exit the U.S and complete your OPT status prior to the end date of your OPT)
You are required to update this information within 10 working days of any changes.
STEM Extension OPT Reporting Requirements
In addition to the information required by all students on OPT within 10 days of any changes, STEM Extension OPT students must submit a validation report to Berkeley International Office every six months starting from the date the 17-month extension begins and ending when the student's F-1 status ends. The validation report is a condition of F-1 status while on STEM Extension OPT. Students must submit the validation report whether or not there were any changes.
How to Submit Reports
Update your address and employment information and submit your validation reports to Berkeley International Office at http://ssu.berkeley.edu/. You will need your Student ID number and your SEVIS number to log in (your SEVIS number is found above the bar code on your I-20 and begins with “N000…” The information you enter on this web page will be stored at Berkeley International Office and is used only for reporting to SEVIS, as mandated by federal regulations.
Keep a receipt copy of the web site each time you report a change.
60-Day Grace Period After OPT
You are allowed a 60-day grace period following your OPT expiration date to leave the U.S., change your status, or transfer your F-1 to a new school or program. Please keep your address information updated during this period as well (you are not allowed to work during the grace period).
