International Students are an important part of the UC Berkeley community.  From over 200 different nations, international students add a global dimension to the rich diversity found on the Berkeley campus. 

Prospective Students
are thinking about coming
to study at UC Berkeley, but
have not yet been admitted.

Current Students
are pursuing degree programs
and are enrolled in units or on Approved Research Status or Filing Fee.

Exchange Students
come to UC Berkeley through an established program called the Education Abroad Program (EAP).

Practical / Academic
Training Students

are F-1 or J-1 students who have graduated from UC Berkeley, have applied for work permission and are currently working or seeking employment in the U.S.


New Students
have been admitted to the University, but have not yet started classes, including Transfer students.

Summer Students
come for one or more Summer Session programs.

Returning Students
began their degree programs at UC Berkeley, withdrew for one or more semesters and are returning to resume their program.
