Required Document Check

All New, Transfer, EAP, and Returning (withdrawn for one semester or more) F-1/J-1 international students are required to complete a document check to confirm their arrival in the U.S. and activate their F-1/J-1 immigration records. When completing your required Document Check, you will be asked to indicate that you have reviewed the iStart 101 course (more details about this course will be sent to you via email by August 1, 2015.)

To complete your Document Check, please do the following:

  1. After your arrival in the U.S., update your local U.S. address in Bearfacts.
    Temporary or short-term addresses are accepted. Click here for an instructional video.

  2. After your arrival in the U.S., upload an image of your I-94 Arrival Record.

New Form I-20 for F-1 Students Only (Effective June 26, 2015):

  • The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has introduced an updated version of the form I-20.
  • ALL F-1 students must obtain this new version I-20.
  • Berkeley International Office will contact you via email as soon as more information is provided by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
