Below you will find definitions for the Processing Stages in the Non-Immigrant Information Form (NIF) and in the Visiting Summer International Student (VSIS) applications.
- NIF is used by UCB degree-seeking students. For questions about NIF, email email@example.com
- VSIS is used by Visiting Summer International students. For questions about VSIS, email firstname.lastname@example.org
After you have submitted your NIF or VSIS online, you can track the progress of your application by following these steps:
- Log back into the application. You will be automatically directed to your Submission Confirmation.
- At the top of the Submission Confirmation, you will see the Status of your application. Check back periodically to see which stage your application has reached. If your application is marked Incomplete or Awaiting Documentation, action from you is required.
Listed below are descriptions of what your processing stage really means and what you need to complete the process.
You still have work to do! You have started the process, but have not completed and submitted it yet. In this stage, you are able to access the application and edit your information. Please complete all required sections and make sure to click Submit when finished.

If your application is not complete, you will be contacted by email and your processing status will be changed to Awaiting Documentation (see below). If your EPR Review is complete, your processing status will be changed to Submitted to International Office (see below).
