Undergraduate Student Readmission
If you withdrew from Berkeley for one or more semesters, you must file an Undergraduate Application for Readmission to be able to re-enroll. Application deadlines are June 1 for the fall semester and November 1 for the spring semester. Readmission for summer session only is not required. For detailed Readmission instructions, check with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 110 Sproul Hall.

Graduate Student Readmission
If you have been withdrawn from the University and you want to re-enroll in the fall or spring semester, you must first file an Application for Readmission, and pay the readmission fee. The Graduate Division and your department, school, or group will review your application and academic record and notify you of their decision.

Please note that the Application for Readmission requires the signature of your Head Graduate Adviser before it can be forwarded to the Graduate Division. Keep this in mind in relation to the application deadlines.

Your F-1 or J-1 Status and Readmission
Once your readmission is approved, Berkeley International Office can issue the I-20 or DS-2019 document for your re-entry to the U.S. For more details, see the our web page Requesting Your I-20 or DS-2019 as a Returning Student.
