Volunteer to Welcome New International Students
There are many exciting ways you can make a difference and make new friends!
New International Student Check-In/Orientation events are held during the beginning of both Fall and Spring semesters. If you are willing to spend some time welcoming and helping our new international students get their bearings as they arrive in Berkeley, please let us know by completing our general Volunteer Application Form. We will review your availability listed on the form and contact about what you would like to do.
Or, Create Your Own Activities!
We welcome your ideas! This is your chance to be creative, make new friends, and help new international students become familiar with the campus and the Bay Area. We recommend that you take into consideration international students' budgets when planning the event because many students are on a tight budget and at this time, none of the activities are financed by BIO.
Some ideas for activities you can initiate include:
- A Tour of Campus
- Hiking Trip
- Movie Night
- Bowling
- Farmer’s Market
- Volleyball / Badminton
- Triple Rock Brewery
- Coffee Hour/Tea Time
- Basketball Games
- Ice Cream Social
- Shopping Trip
- Picnic at a Local Park

Fill out the Volunteer Application Form with your activity idea. An Adviser at BIO will review your application and contact you if your activity is selected. We can assist you with some of the planning, implementation and promotion.
