Scholar Information Meetings (SIMs)
J-1 Scholars are required to validate their arrival in the U.S. by creating a J Scholar Portal and completing the Arrival Confirmation form. In addition, the U.S. Department of State also requires participation in an orientation where immigration regulations, travel, employment, resources for families, health insurance and other practical information will be discussed. This requirement is met by watching the SIM webinar.

It will take approximately 40 minutes to view the webinar. Please view this webinar within 9 days after your arrival to the U.S.
Resources for Newly Arrived J-1 Scholar:
Optional: Register for the next Connect at the Berkeley International Office meeting to meet other J-1 scholars, receive important information, and get a travel signature on your DS-2019.
