Permanent Residence Process Fee Structure

Depending on the type of case there are three or four different types of fees required in the PR process:

  1. recharge fee of $1,845 to the Berkeley International Office to facilitate the process.
  2. Attorney fees (see below) to conduct the legal work. Note: only the approved attorney on retainer can be used for university work.
  3. Filing fees (see below) to the Department of Homeland Security for specific forms.
  4. Advertisement (Test of the Labor Market) fees. Applicable only for cases that include the Labor Certification application.
  5. NOTE: IOF's must be approved by department before the law firm starts work on the case.

All fees leading to the approval of the Immigrant Petition (Form I 140) are the responsibility of the hiring unit. The fees for the adjustment of status for the employee and family may be paid by the hiring unit or passed on to the employee. There will be additional expenses incurred by the employee for a medical exam and photographs.
