International Education Week Photo Contest

Photos that showcase your home culture. This may include wearing cultural dress; spotlighting an important cultural item, flag, etc.; sharing a cultural tradition, custom, or food. Focus on sharing your distinct cultural perspectives! What makes you, you?

Photos that showcase the incredible setting of our university and the Bay Area. We are lucky to be a part of an area that has amazing cultural and natural diversity. Submit a photo that shows why this area is so special. Landscape photos are permitted, but we encourage you to include yourself  or other people in the photo as well.

Photos that embody Cal Pride! Break out your Cal Gear, attend and document events on campus, and share why you are proud to be a student at UC Berkeley.

All UC Berkeley students. International students are especially encouraged to participate, but it is not a requirement. Participants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Each photograph submitted must be an original work created entirely by the contest entrant. By entering, the entrant confirms that the photograph is solely their own creation and does not violate anyone’s copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, privacy/publicity rights, or any other intellectual property rights. Additionally, no other person or entity has any claim to the photograph. The photograph must also meet the standards set by the Berkeley International Office, meaning it cannot contain any obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate content.

Additional Rules:

• You may submit one photo per category (three total).
• Confirm that you have obtained all necessary photo/video waivers (if applicable) and can provide them upon request.
• Include a title, location, and a short caption/description for each image.
• Contestants are limited to only one prize.
• Photos that do not meet the requirements can be disqualified.
• Submissions may be shared on BIO’s social media accounts and website.

You must submit your photos by November 15, 2024 at 5:00p.m. PST in order to participate.

There will be one first prize for each photo category and each first prize contestant will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

Submissions that include the image of individuals who are not UCLA students/faculty and are clearly visible (“other subjects”) will require a waiver (permission to use their image). You are responsible for obtaining such photo/video waivers. Photo/video waiver form can be found here.

The photos will be judged via your peers through an online popular vote, which will be open for the first four days of International Education Week (November 18 - 21). The winners will be announced on Friday, November 22.
